Python Client for PhpWiki
2003-03-21 - While experimenting with Python and Tkinter I put together a very basic GUI client that takes advantage of PhpWiki's experimental XML-RPC interface. Source code and a screenshot are available at http://andy.greyledge.net/weblog/PhpWikiGui.html
Weblog Online
2003-03-09 - With SnapSnap development well under way, the time seemed right to start keeping a weblog again. The URL: http://andy.greyledge.net/weblog/
Site Redesign Progress: Announcing SnapSnap
2003-02-24 - SnapSnap is a new content management system that I've decided to write before going to the trouble of updating my site design. SnapSnap is inspired in large part by WikiWiki (hence the name), but differs in enough ways that I can't really call it a true Wiki clone itself.
Portfolio Updated
2003-02-19 - HTML and PDF versions of the portfolio have been updated to include examples of my personal web site evolution and a Palm PQA I created in 2001.
ColdFusion Bookmark Manager
2003-02-12 - In an attempt to teach myself some ColdFusion basics, I put together a bookmark manager application. View screenshots, download source code, and read about the hows and whys.
Redesign Underway
2003-02-03 - With the introduction of the Miscellany section, this site as I originally designed it is outgrowing itself; the action-oriented section names were an interesting idea, but impractical. Having a great big "DOWNLOAD" button on every page is counterintuitive, as is having every portfolio page titled "HIRE". On the architecture end of things, I need to reorganize pages into a proper hierarchy as long as this site uses static pages. With all that in mind, I've begun a redesign of the site. It won't be drastic, and I'm hoping to have it up by the end of this week.
Announcing Cromulac - A Perfectly Cromulent Random Word Generator
2003-01-30 - Cromulac generates random, yet plausible, words for your time-wasting pleasure.
New Site Section: Miscellany
2003-01-30 - A new "Miscellany" section has been added to the site, to hold stuff that doesn't quite belong anywhere else. There's no home page link at the moment, but that's OK since there's not much in the section right now.
New Music: "Sugar in the Gourd"
2003-01-29 - "Sugar in the Gourd" is now available in Ogg Vorbis format for free download.
Portfolio Updated
2003-01-20 - A section about VOOT has been added to the portfolio, along with an extended job history in the Resume Experience section. You never know who's looking for a programmer/designer with special effects experience.
VOOT 1.1 Released
2003-01-20 - Two new methods have been added to the Voot class, getPlaceholdersFromTemplate() and initFromTemplate(). See the docs for details.
News Page Added
2003-01-20 - If, for some reason, you've been wanting to see older news items than the five most recent ones, you're in luck. There is now a News page, which has the added attraction of being the first live page on the site to use the VOOT class released yesterday.
VOOT 1.0.2 Released
2003-01-19 - VOOT is a simple PHP template class. This web site isn't using it, yet. One thing at a time.
Surf Page XHTML Fixed
2003-01-17 - I just discovered that the Surf page wasn't validating correctly thanks to some unescaped ampersands in the list of top referers. Problem fixed.
Dead Referers Culled
2003-01-14 - I finally got around to writing a script to check through the HTML of referring pages and make sure they still link to the site, to ensure that the 'Recent Keyword Searches' and 'Top referers for this page' information remains accurate. The effect is definitely noticable in the list of top referers to the site. Well, it's noticable if you've been checking the list every day.
Caption Styles Improved
2003-01-13 - Screenshot captions in the Portfolio have been made bold and given a bottom margin, so they will no longer run into the text below them.
New Material Added to Portfolio
2003-01-11 - While digging through my old backup CD-ROMs I came across a few more screenshots of work I did at Stan Lee Media, which I've added to the Portfolio along with some images of my Business Card. PDF and XHTML files have been updated accordingly.
Programming Section Added to Portfolio
2003-01-09 - A "Programming" section has been added to the Portfolio section, featuring my own software projects and screenshots of some of my work at Valley Presbyterian Hospital. XHTML and PDF files have been updated.
"Read" Section Refactored
2003-01-03 - Following the addition of a tech. writing section to the portfolio, the "Read" section has been removed. The same content can now be found at http://andy.greyledge.net/portfolio/technical_writing.php.
The existing URL, http://andy.greyledge.net/read.php will redirect all future requests with HTTP status 301, so well-behaved search engine spiders should be dropping it from public use before too long.
Portfolio Updated
2003-01-02 - PDF and XHTML versions of the portfolio have been updated to include a Technical Writing section, which will soon be replacing the separate "Read" section of the web site; having two separate but closely related sections that serve the same purpose doesn't make much sense..
New Music: "Oh, Susanna"
2002-12-30 - "Oh Susanna" is now available in Ogg Vorbis format for free download.

2002-12-29 - An RSS newsfeed containing information about recent site updates is now available at http://andy.greyledge.net/news.rss.
QuickRss 0.1 Released
2002-12-27 - QuickRss is a PHP class for building RSS 0.91 files as objects (which means you don't have to deal with any XML tags yourself.)
Announcements System Online
2002-12-27 - With the regular updates I've been making to the site, I really need some sort of news management, and I wanted it to be database-driven. I also want to make an RSS feed available, to which end I threw together QuickRss.
ColorChip 1.0 Released
2002-12-24 - ColorChip is a PHP class for easy color management, free for use under the GNU Public License.
